Harbhajan Singh will be out of IPL

New Delhi: Harbhajan Singh will be out of IPL till an enquiry clears him of slapping India teammate - Sreesanth.
The turbunator won't be playing today's match also between his team - the Mumbai Indians and Deccan Chargers.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians owners - Reliance will hold a meeting to chalk out their strategy.
The last time bowler Harbhajan Singh was caught in a battle with a fellow player, he had the whole-hearted backing of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
But now the tables have turned and after the latest slapping row with S Sreesanth during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, the BCCI is keen on setting the record straight that such "misbehavior on field will not be tolerated."
In an 11-year career, Harbhajan and controversy have been constant bedfellows and it seems the BCCI has finally had enough.
"Players have let down the Board with such behaviour. The tape clearly shows Bhajji hitting Sreesanth on the face. We have had enough of all this," BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty told CNN-IBN.
If the rulebook is thrown at Harbhajan then this could be a big blow to his career. On the evidence made available by TV footage and pictures, there seems to be enough damning evidence against Harbhajan.
If found guilty the spinner could land up with a minimum 10-match ban, ending his IPL campaign. But that is not all, if the Board gets too tough then Harbhajan could also end up with a life ban.
"Ultimately, the matter will come to the Board and it has to take a decision according to the evidence. I don’t think it would be justified if I give judgment without hearing the details. If anybody, Harbhajan or whomsoever, has misbehaved and if it’s true then he has to face the music," BCCI chief Sharad Pawar said.

And for the man who conceived and executed the idea of the IPL, retaining the sanctity of the tournament is paramount.
"We have zero-tolerance for this sort of behaviour on field. We need to set the right example and so appropriate action will be taken soon,” IPL Chairman Lalit Modi said.
Now the BCCI may want to take stringent action against Harbajan, but Sreesanth said that the entire episode should be forgotten.
Sreesanth told Malayalam channel Asianet News, "I went to shake Bhajji's hand after the game. It is unbelievable that he reacted the way he did. It wasn't like he actually beat me up. But it was more than a friendly pat. Perhaps, he was upset over losing the match. But I've already forgiven him. I have a long way to go in cricket, and I'd better put all this behind me."
Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh's mother Avtaar Kaur said that she was not aware of her son slapping Sreesanth, but hoped they resolve the matter soon.
"I don’t know about any slapping incident. They should talk to each other and resolve the matter," she said.
For the Mumbai Indians who are already reeling after three consecutive defeats and the injury to their Captain Sachin Tendulkar, this is a tricky situation. Supporting Harbhajan could pitch them against the BCCI and discarding him won't go down well in the team.

Mohali prove a point, take away two

Mohali: S. Sreesanth cried tears of joy and relief as Kings XI Punjab, so desperately hard-pressed for points, finally notched up a win over Mumbai Indians by 66 runs here.
Chasing Mohali's 182, Mumbai were restricted to a pathetic 116 for nine, and are still without any points.
Brett Lee bowled a sensational first spell for the Mohali team, while Piyush Chawla had a spell of 2-16 off four overs to settle the issue for Mohali.
Dwayne Bravo scored 23 for the Mumbai side and Shaun Pollock 22, but it was never going to be enough.
Sri Lankan star Kumar Sangakkara scored a brilliant 94 as Kings XI Punjab scored 182 in their 20 overs against Mumbai Indians.
The Mohali side would have expected one of their other batsmen to share a stand with Sangakkara, but no one stayed on long enough and Mumbai skipper Harbhajan Singh would be satisfied with the performance on the field.
Harbhajan himself was the leading wicket-taker for the Mumbai team with three scalps.
Mumbai Indians once again went in with Sachin Tendulkar as their captain is still not fit, putting them in quite a situation as they go into the game desperately needing a win. Harbhajan Singh once again won the toss, and again like the previous games decided to field first.

Kings XI Punjab are also in a pretty desperate situation in the India Premier League, and they too would be hoping to turn around with a win. They are at the bottom of the table, without any points to their name, while Mumbai are just a shade better, that too only because of their run-rate.
The Mumbai squad brought in Saurabh Tiwary to replace offie Vikrant Yaligati, while Yuvraj Singh decided to drop James Hopes and replace him with VRV Singh

Parugu about Chiru and his daughter!

Just few days left for grand release, Parugu is making all the necessary buzz. The latest news is that the film primarily deals about megastar Chiranjeevi's recent personal troubles. Chiranjeevi's younger daughter Srija fell in love and secretly married her boyfriend this news hogged the headlines for a month.

Being a big fan to megastar, Allu Arjun always reacts in his own way whenever someone comments or does any bad to Chiru. Remember he strongly reacted to hero Rajashekar when the latter made comments on megastar. Now, it looks like he is reacting with this film to the episode of Srija's secret marriage.

The film, directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar, focuses on the great bond that a father shares with his daughter and how his heart aches when his doting daughter runs away. Prakash Raj plays the father's role.

There is also buzz that Allu Ajun has mouthed some strong dialogues in support of Chiru slyly on the aspect of secret marriage.

Shane Warne wins it for Jaipur in last over

yderabad: Andrew Symonds thought he had sewn it up when he scored 117 runs for Hyderabad Deccan Chargers against Rajasthan Royals. But Shane Warne had the last laugh as he blasted the fellow-Australian to carve out a near-impossible win.

Needing 17 runs to win in the last over, Warne smashed one boundary and two sixes off Symonds to script the remarkable victory for the spirited Jaipur team. Chasing Hyderabad's 214-5, Jaipur scored 217-7 with one ball to spare.

Graeme Smith (71) and Yusuf Pathan (61) set up the win for Jaipur as they took their team off to a flying start. The duo added 98 runs in seven overs.

Pathan playing some brutal shots, hit six sixes and four boundaries in his 28-ball knock.

But it seemed that Hyderabad were losing their way as Shahid Afridi (3-27) stuck to a tight line and length. And it looked like it was all over for Jaipur when Afridi claimed the wickets of Mohd. Kaif (34) and Smith in the 18th over.

Then RP Singh scored a brilliant penultimate over, as he bowled Ravindra Jadeja and Dinesh Salunke was run out.

But Warne, with Pankaj Singh for company, pulled off a sensational win as VVS Laxman handed the ball to Symonds for the last over.

Earlier, Symonds scored a blistering unbeaten 117 as Deccan Chargers were carried to a blinding 214-5.

Sent in to bat by by Shane Warne, Hyderabad were in some trouble initially before Symonds, initially with Laxman, and then with Rohit Sharma, guided his side to a mammoth total.

Symonds scored his 117 runs off just 53 balls, with seven sixes and 11 boundaries.

No one can stop me on my day: Sehwag

After his buccaneering unbeaten 94 powered Delhi Daredevils to a comprehensive win against the Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad on Tuesday night, Virender Sehwag said none can really stop him when he gets going and it was one of those days. After his buccaneering unbeaten 94 powered Delhi Daredevils to a comprehensive win against the Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad on Tuesday night, Virender Sehwag said none can really stop him when he gets going and it was one of those days. After the hosts put on a modest 142 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs, Sehwag led from the front and slammed an unbeaten explosive 41-ball knock of 94 to guide his side to an easy nine-wicket victory in just 13 overs."Someone asked me yesterday what would be our strategy and I just told him if the day belongs to me, none can stop me. And it was such a day," said Sehwag whose swashbuckling innings earned him the Man of the Match award.Sehwag was especially harsh on Andrew Symonds and Sanjay Bangar and he in fact milked 30 runs off an over from the Australian all-rounder."I knew they don't have real pace and I can take chance against them. So I stayed back and played my shots against them," he said, almost nonchalantly. He also showered praise on his bowlers, especially Mohammad Asif and Glenn McGrath and felt the Deccans never really got going in the match. His opposite number VVS Laxman said the batsmen did not put enough runs on the board to give the bowlers any cushion in the match."You see 142 was just not enough. We did not capitalise on the first six overs and then lost wickets at regular intervals. It is not easy for a new batsman to come and start playing his shots. we could not concentrate enough.

Sensational Sehwag carries Delhi to nine-wicket win

Hyderabad: Virender Sehwag seemed to have a train to catch, as he rocketed Delhi Daredevils to a sensational nine-wicket win over Hyderabad Deccan Chargers.
Sehwag scored 94 not out off just 41 deliveries as his partnership with Shikhar Dhawan (25 not out) took his side to a facile win. Delhi now have two wins from two matches while Hyderabad have yet to score a win in the IPL.
Chasing Hyderabad's modest 142, Delhi never gave the hosts any chance to fight back as first Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, then the captain and Dhawan, decimated the attack.
The 13th over of the match, bowled by Andrew Symonds, went for 30 runs as Sehwag hit three sixes and three boundaries. In total, Sehwag hit ten boundaries and six sixes.
Young Rohit Sharma carried the Hyderabad Deccan Chargers on his shoulders as bigger names like Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds and Shahid Afridi failed, to take his side to a fighting 142-8 against Delhi Daredevils.
Sharma scored a sensational 66 runs off just 36 deliveries, hitting six fours and four sixes.
Sharma scored 26 runs off one over by Faraveez Maharoof. He carried Hyderabad from a precarious 70-5 after 15 overs to a total that can at least be called challenging for the Delhi batsmen.

For the Delhi team, Pakistani fast bowler Mohd. Asif was the best bowler, claiming two wickets for 19 runs in four overs.
Earlier, Deccan Chargers captain VVS Laxman thought it apt to make use of the pitch first, especially with perhaps the best batting line-up, which doesn't seem even remotely similar to the one they played earlier on in Kolkata.
The Chargers play their first game at home, and are up against an upbeat Delhi Daredevils side, who have been bolstered by the arrival of the Pakistan duo of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Asif, as well as another change in Yo Mahesh. Daniel Vettori, Mithun Manhas and Brett Geeves sat out the fixture.
Hyderabad, on the other hand, included the explosive Shahid Afridi to go with the existing firepower of Adam Gilchrist and Andrew Symonds, while Scott Styris was benched.

Afridi targets McCullum’s 158

Pakistan's Shahid Afridi has said that he would be striving to better Brendon McCullum's astounding 73-ball 158. The glitzy all-rounder will debut for Hyderabad Deccan Chargers in the DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) tomorrow. The swaggering right-hander left today for India to play in the IPL and said McCullum's knock was fresh in his memory.During his scorching innings for Kolkata Knight Riders against Bangalore Royal Challengers in the opening match of the IPL on Friday, McCullum scored 100 from just 53 balls.Since 1997, Afridi has held on to the record for the fastest one-day hundred off just 37 balls. He said that he was eager to equal or exceed McCullum's innings."It is a very difficult target to achieve to better his 158 at a faster rate. But it is not impossible. Certainly if I get a chance to bat higher up the order and get enough overs to play, I will give it a try," Afridi was quoted as saying to the media after the Twenty20 international against Bangladesh at the National Stadium yesterday.Afridi will be available for the VVS Laxman-led Deccan Chargers in their game against Delhi Daredevils.Recently, Afridi entered the top ten in the ICC rankings of bowlers for the first time in his career.

Boucher steers Bangalore home in humdinger

Mumbai: After being thrashed in their opening match, the Bangalore Royal Challengers came back strongly in the fifth match of the inaugural IPL tournament by beating the Mumbai Indians by five wickets at the Wankhede stadium here.
Chasing 165, Bangalore won with just two balls to spare in a thrilling encounter. And the hero for the visitors was Mark Boucher who remained unbeaten on 39 with four boundaries and two sixes to his name.
Even after a steady start, the Bangalore team it seemed was always facing an uphill task, remaining below the required run-rate through most of their run chase. But the equation changed completely with Jacques Kallis and Boucher suddenly launching a brilliant counter-attack at the death.
After Boucher hit Harbhajan Singh for a much-needed six, the visitors needed 30 off three overs. Ashish Nehra bowling the 18th over was hit by two sixes and one four in the over, giving away 19 runs.
With only 11 needed off two overs, Mumbai for the first time were facing the heat and even though they managed to get rid off Kallis for 25, Bangalore managed to reach home in the last over.
Earlier, Rahul Dravid after battling hard in the initial part of his innings took his team off to a steady beginning, hitting a 33 ball 32. Shivnarine Chanderpaul (16), Ross Taylor (23) and Virat Kohli (23) also chipped in with handy contributions.
In the Mumbai innings, a steady 48 by Robin Uthappa and Shaun Pollock’s blazing 12-ball 28 took the Mumbai Indians to 165-6.
After stand-in skipper Harbhajan chose to bat, Sanath Jayasuriya got the Mumbai Indians off to a flier clobbering five four and one six in his 16-ball 29. But Zaheer Khan, who was the best bowler in view, threw the wickets down at the non-striker’s end to send back the Sri Lankan southpaw.
Uthappa and Pinal Shah then put up a steady 51-run stand to build the innings. After slamming five fours and one six, Uthappa fell in the 17th over in an attempt to accelerate the scoring.
But it was Pollock who provided the much-needed impetus. The all-rounder hit two towering sixes along with three boundaries to motor the scoring rate, which looked a bit static at one stage.

David Hussey clinches thriller at Eden Gardens

Kolkata: In a match that went right down to the wire, the climax seemed to be lifted straight from one of Kolkata Knight Riders' owner Shah Rukh Khan's blockbusters.
Locked in battle in an evenly matched, star-studded contest, the Deccan Chargers from Hyderabad were skittled out for 110 before they came back only to lose to out to some David Hussey brilliance on a wicket which appeared to have been exposed to at least eight days of continuous cricket.
If the Kanpur minefield in the recent India-South Africa Test was made to favour the home side, this particular track at the Eden was just that, enough for the Knight Riders to bundle out the visitors for 110 inside 20 overs. That there were any favours attached to it, is however unknown.
However, chasing the lowest total in the tournament so far, this one wasn't going to be a walk in the park. The Knight Riders were 89-5 after 16.4 overs. So bad was the pitch that it was almost embarrassing for Indian cricket's grandest stage — the Eden Gardens — that one of the light towers at the stadium went out.
Needing a solid opening stand, not necessarily by way of the runs on the board, the Knight Riders lost Brendon McCullum early, before Chaminda Vaas trapped Ricky Ponting leg before for his second successive failure.
Sourav Ganguly and David Hussey gutsed it out with the former taking a fierce blow on the rib as the duo ambled to their target. But Ganguly's dismissal not only spurred the visitors to stage an excellent fightback, but created a deafening silence at the packed Eden.
Had it been a blackout, the abrupt end couldn't have dented the tournament's spectacular progress, as the hosts were 89-5, exactly their cut-off score where they should have been. However, the lights were back on as David Hussey hit two mammoth sixes to guide the Knight Riders to their second straight win in the competition.
As VVS Laxman put it during the toss, this one was the "keen contest" everyone was looking forward to, as his Deccan Chargers Hydebarad outfit elected to bat here on Sunday.

Egged on by a vociferous Kolkata crowd, the game marked the return of the game's original daredevil, Adam Gilchrist taking first strike but it was not until the second over from Ishant Sharma that the devils underneath came to surface.
Massive puffs of dust, uneven bounce greeted the Hyderabad batsmen as Venugopal Rao perished to Ishant Sharma, before VVS Laxman miscued a pull shot straight to mid on after being wrapped on the knuckles.
The Deccan Chargers were in for more trouble with the introducion of spinners, as Gilchrist (23), Rohit Sharma (0) and Scott Styris (6) all fell trying to force the situation against the viciously turning ball.
A 39-ball 32 isn't the kind of knock you would associate Andrew Symonds to play in a Twenty20 game, but the Australian's hard grind was the top score on a minefield at the Eden.
Home hero Sourav Ganguly-led Kokata Knight Riders chose to retain the same side that trumped the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the tournament opener.
But their opponents were no small fry either, with the combination boasting of the explosive Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds and Scott Styris, coupled with the Indian elegance of VVS Laxman and Rohit Sharma.
Deccan Chargers Hyderabad: VVS Laxman (captain), Adam Gilchrist, Arjun Yadav, Andrew Symonds, Scott Styris, Rohit Sharma, Venugopal Rao, Chaminda Vaas, Sanjay Bangar, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha.
Kolkata Knight Riders: Sourav Ganguly (captain), Brendon McCullum, Ricky Ponting, David Hussey, Mohammad Hafeez, Laxmi Rattan Shukla, Wriddhiman Saha, Ajit Agarkar, Ashok Dinda, Murali Kartik, Ishant Sharma.

Gambhir, Dhawan shine in emphatic win

Delhi: It was almost a cakewalk for the Delhi Daredevils as they registered a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals in the third game of the inaugural IPL tourney at the Feroz shah kotla stadium here on Saturday.
Chasing a modest 129, Gautam Gambhir (58 not out) and Shikhar Dhawan (52 not out) put up an unbroken 112-run stand to take Delhi home. After Virender Sehwag was dismissed early, the duo flayed the Rajasthan bowling to finish the game in only 15.1 overs.
Gambhir making the most of his rich form, slammed seven boundaries and one six in his 46-ball knock. Dhawan too displayed his stroke making ability to plunder eight fours.
In what was a lackluster bowling show by Rajasthan, even skipper and spin wizard Shane Warne failed to make an impact, finishing with 0-16 in his two overs.
Earlier, Delhi displayed sharpness and discipline in the field to restrict the Rajasthan Royals to 129-8 in the allotted 20 overs.
Some lusty blows by Dinesh Salunke (29 not out) in the end of the innings helped Rajasthan to post a a somewhat fighting total after Delhi had pushed them to 93-7 at one stage.
Farveez Maharoof (2-11) and local boy Rajat Bhatia (2-17) bowled superbly in the middle overs, not allowing Rajasthan to get any sort of momentum in their innings.
Glenn Mcgrath stuck in his second over to send back Taruwar Kohli (seven) and with that the Rajasthan team dug a hole for themselves as regular wickets pushed them back. Yusuf Pathan (10) and Shane Watson (21) were run out and Darren Lehmann (one) and Mohammad Kaif (nine) took the long walk back soon. The Rajasthan Royals slumped to 57-5 in the 11th over.
Under-19 recruit Ravindra Jadeja battled hard as he attempted to recover the Rajasthan innings but the experienced Daniel Vettori scalped him for 29.

No friendship with Dhoni on field: Yuvraj

Mohali: Mahendra Singh Dhoni may be his good friend in the dressing room but on the field he will fight it out without leaving any space to take an edge, especially when pride is at stake before the "home crowd," says Yuvraj Singh.

"There is no friendship on the field. We will want to win the game and have an upper hand in the competition," said Yuvraj, captain of the Indian Premier League's Kings XI Mohali team, ahead of their opening match on Saturday.

"Maybe, I will share a joke with him after the game," added Yuvraj, who will take on Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings.

"It's a good way to build the hype (around the competition) by pitching it as Yuvraj versus Dhoni contest," he said.

Dressed in a white T-shirt and cargos, Yuvraj, who reached here in his yellow sports car, was beaming with confidence and looked excited about the IPL's inaugural Twenty20 championship.

Yuvraj does not agree that too much cricket will be played with IPL happening now.

"IPL is going to be there just for 44 days, rest of the time we play international cricket. I don't know why people go overboard when they say IPL will do this or do that (talk negative about the League)," he said.

The Yuvraj-led team has a formidable batting line-up with Mahela Jayawardene, Simon Katich, Kumar Sangakkara, and youngsters like Karan Goel and Uday Kaul in the side.

Australian pacer Brett Lee is spearheading the bowling attack along with S Sreesanth and Irfan Pathan.
