Amitabh put me in lock-up: RGV
Ram Gopal Varma said he is feeling proud to be here with this film. “I was born and brought up here at this Punjagutta circle. Now I am here with a big hit. Just opposite this theatre, I was locked up in the Punjagutta Police Station for one day. The charge was that I was renting ‘pirated’ video cassettes of Amitabh starrer Aakhri Raasta.. I was running video library then. It is a proud moment for me now directing a big hit starring Amitabh. Power is achieving what you desired or dreamt of,” Ram Gopal Varma said.
‘Sarkar Raj is ground breaking film’
Amitabh praised RGV for reaching to what he is today by making films that he believes in. “He made a humble beginning and went on to make ground breaking films. “We are often criticized for making escapist movies with song and romance. Although now West is accepting our diversity and started understanding our films, there are also filmmakers like RGV who are making realistic movies sans songs and romance. Sarkar Raj doesn’t have them, yet it broke the records. We are more than happy that the film is extremely doing well in UK, USA and other overseas where such films never had good run,” Amitabh added.
